Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan is a Somali-British Islamic scholar and the founder of the AMAU Academy. His early life was marked by exceptional dedication to sacred texts, having memorized both the Quran and the substantial hadith collection Bulugh al-Maram by the age of 10.
To deepen his scholarship, he embarked on extensive travels throughout the Muslim world to seek knowledge (Talab al-Ilm):
Formal Education: He pursued rigorous Islamic studies in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Somalia.
Journeys to South Asia: He considers his journey to India among the most significant of his life, specifically to study the transmission of Hadith. During these travels, he met with and benefited from prominent scholars and visited historic centers where the people of India had preserved the legacy of Hadith sciences.
Scholarly Influence: He is known for studying under leading figures such as Sheikh Salih al-Fawzan and Sheikh AbdulRazaq al-Badr, emphasizing a classical approach that prioritizes learning directly from teachers over self-study.
Today, he uses this diverse educational background to bridge traditional Eastern scholarship with Western contexts, delivering structured Islamic content to an international English-speaking audience.
