A Solo Road Trip to Lake Tahoe | Resetting My Mind

This January, I promised myself to focus on happiness and well-being—but I failed. Instead, I found myself more lost than ever. Then, three days ago, something inside me said: go. So, without a plan, I got in my car and started driving.

I followed Highway 395 along the Sierra Nevada, eventually making my way to Lake Tahoe. What was supposed to be an 8-hour drive turned into something much more meaningful. Along the way, I reflected on life, loss, and the importance of being present.

For 24 hours, I let go of everything: I watched the sunrise over Emerald Bay, journaled by the lake, and wandered through the hidden beauty of Fallen Leaf Lake. It was a moment of clarity—a reminder that happiness isn’t a place we reach, but something we learn to embrace.

I know I’ll go back to my routine, but I also know that I have to keep trying. Because happiness isn’t about escaping—it’s about being present, wherever we are.
