Here are four tunes from the Command Performances radio show from 1942.
1. Betty Grable introduces "The World's Greatest Trumpet Player" as he plays his smash hit "You Made Me Love You". Notice that Harry employs even more "Ziggy Elman" type phrasing in his last chorus.
2. Harry and Helen Forrest team up for "The Right Kind of Love." Trumpet players notice that virtually NOBODY in 1942 played in the high register like Harry James! (Roy Eldridge and Charlie Shavers fans...relax!)
3. Harry introduces hit then number one hit "Sleepy Lagoon."
4. Bing Crosby introduces Harry and the band as they play "Back Beat Boogie" where Harry ends up on a high F# instead of his usual D.
