Do you have creaking when cornering or driving over rough roads in your BMW E60 / E61 / E63 / E64?
So did I, and thankfully the fix isn't too complicated if you're fairly DIY-competent.
Please bear in mind that strut top mount bearings can also cause noise when cornering if defective.
In my case, the cause was one of the strut brace bolts being loose. This was due to the threads being pulled due to them being over-tightened previously - I had to drill the hole out to 8.5mm, retap the hole to M10 and finally use a thread insert in order to re-instate the correct M8 x 1.25 for the original bolt to be re-fitted.
Torque setting: 20lb/ft / 27Nm
Strut brace bolt head: T45 (bolts are female, so you need a male bit)
Strut brace bolt part number: 51717063831
Thread insert spec: M10 (1.5) x M8 (1.25) x 15mm
