Sunrise Over History: the historic English seaside town you should visit very early in the morning!

Welcome to my early morning exploration of Cromer – a charming seaside town on the north Norfolk coast with a history as rich as its stunning sunrise views. As well as touring the historic streets and buildings, I also visit the shops, with a focus on the vintage and antiques.

Once a quiet fishing village, Cromer rose to fame in the Victorian era when the railway brought a wave of holidaymakers eager to breathe in the sea air. Its iconic pier, built in 1901, still stands proud, home to one of the last traditional end-of-pier shows in the UK.

My advice is to come very early in the holiday season to beat the crowds!

Cromer’s story goes back even further – to medieval times, when it was known for its church, St. Peter and St. Paul, with the tallest tower in Norfolk. And beneath the cliffs, the town’s fishermen made their living catching the famous Cromer crab – still a local delicacy today.

From shipwrecks to royal visits, Cromer has seen it all. And this morning, as the sun rises over the North Sea, you’re walking in the footsteps of centuries of coastal life and legend.
