One of our biggest events of the year is the Mighty Merrimack Rowing Race, right here on the Merrimack River in Amesbury, Massachusetts, north of Boston. Many types of traditional (mostly wooden) boats, including this Joel White Shearwater, Chesapeake Light Craft Passagemaker Pram, 19' Lowell's Dory, Adirondack Guideboat, and Bolger Pram Dinghy, race alongside gigs with crews of up 6 or 8 people... it's really a sight to see.
In this video, meet a few of the rowers and the stories of their boats.

A National Historic Landmark and working museum, Lowell’s is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating the art and craft of wooden boat building. In our boatbuilding and shop update videos, we're hoping to take you inside our living museum where we build new boats for clients, restore boats for other museums, and provide a space for events and on-the-water programs for all ages. Our museum is open for guided and self-guided tours. Visit http://lowellsboatshop.com/ to see how you can become a member, attend a program, or get involved in boatbuilding workshops.
