10 Days Around New Zealand’s South Island… and a Life-Changing Question 💍

For 10 days, we explored New Zealand’s South Island in a camper van: Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo, Wanaka, Milford Sound, Arthur’s Pass, some of the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet. What my girlfriend didn’t know… is that I was planning a secret marriage proposal the entire time.

This trip ended up becoming a before-and-after moment in my life.
We had just spent six months working in a restaurant in Auckland over the winter, saved enough for a break, rented a camper van, and built the dream itinerary: Lake Tekapo, Hooker Valley, Muller Hut, Wanaka, Roy’s Peak, Milford Sound, Lake Marian, Queenstown, Arrowtown, and more.

Some hikes were brutal, some days were pure magic, some nights were freezing, but every step brought us closer to the moment I’d been imagining for months. Somewhere beautiful, meaningful, unforgettable.

On Day 9, at sunset, on the shores of Lake Pukaki… I finally got on one knee.
