61306 'Mayflower' and 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' + DOUBLE HEAD out of Bristol East Depot with 47593!

The recently overhauled BR standard Class 8P pacific 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' has had a rather eventful week this week, striking the buffers at Hanwell Loop last Saturday evening, then failing with a AWS fault and remaining in Bristol East Depot on Tuesdays Steam Dreams railtour to Bath.
Today the Duke's fortunes turned, as it was steamed up in Bristol East Depot, ready to team up and join forces with LNER B1 61306 'Mayflower' with both locomotives double heading back to Southall, working the return leg of the final Saphos Trains railtour to this years Bath Christmas Markets.
We join the action with the Duke being prepared, before Mayflower whistles past with the ECS heading from Bath Sap exchanging whistles with the Duke, heading back to Bristol East Depot while on a turning move, and we then see the B1 return and detach from the train to be serviced so that the Duke and its support coach can slot into the consist, before the double header forms up and the LNER B1 and unique BR Standard 8P make an atmospheric steamy departure back to Bath in the fading light! | 12.12.2025
