In this episode of Adventures Into History, I return with Mrs. Linda McCardle to explore the historic Pierce Chapel Cemetery in Harris County, Georgia.
This graveyard, nearly 180 years old, is filled with stories that connect directly to some of the earliest settlers of the region. We focus on the Kimbrough, Clark, and Rees (Reese) families—documenting their history, connections, and the legacy they left behind in this once rural community.
Among the many burials here, we also encounter unique stonework, including fieldstone box tombs—markers often dating back to the early settlement period. These rare features stand as both architectural and cultural reminders of the people who lived and died here in the mid-1800s.
This work is made possible by viewers. Your support helps us document forgotten cemeteries, restore endangered headstones, and protect stories before they’re lost forever.
