Learn how to season canned green beans so they taste just like Grandma’s! This easy Southern-style recipe takes simple canned green beans and turns them into a flavorful, old-fashioned side dish your family will love.

Ingredients:
2 (14–15 oz) cans green beans, drained
1 can of water
6 slices bacon diced,
1 small onion finely chopped
3 cloves garlic minced
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon paste,
1/2 teaspoon tomato bouillon powder
1/2 tablespoon No salt garlic and herb seasoning
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
pinch of crushed red pepper optional
Season to taste
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until it begins to render but isn’t fully crisp. Add the onion and sauté until softened, about 3 mins then stir in the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Add the drained green beans and 1 can of water just enough to come up around the beans. Stir in the chicken bouillon paste, tomato bouillon powder, black pepper, and crushed red pepper if using. Let the beans simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes on high heat stirring occasionally. Mash 5–6 beans right in the skillet and stir that creates that slow-cooked look. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, then cook down the liquid to your liking before serving.
