A guide to fitting a walking foot, aka even feed foot to Elna sewing machines of the older type, such as the Supermatic, Lotus and the Air Electronic models.
There's a small issue where the bobbin extractor gets in the way so I show how to temporarily remove it so that the walking foot can be fitted. You may think it's just a matter of unscrewing the extractor from it's retaining spring, but if not done correctly, the spring can be damaged beyond repair, rendering it unusable.
Once the bobbin extractor is removed, you can then go ahead and fit the walking foot attachment.
Another minor issue, because of where the bobbin case is situated, is the walking foot can make it more difficult to install and remove the bobbin. Tweezers are probably the best tool to use.
When finished, you can remove the walking foot and reinstall the bobbin extractor.
If you're going to be swapping back and forth between the standard feet and the walking foot, the extractor can be removed and kept on hand.
I also show refitting of the bobbin extractor.
