Back at the Centennial Mine in Eureka, Utah for some early Spring rockhounding! The Centennial Eureka Mine is an old silver mine that operated in the 18-1900's. The tailings piles are littered with colorful minerals including Malachite, Azurite, Calcite, Smithsonite, Quartz, and much more.
If interested in collecting here, the mine owner told me that they only allow groups from the 'Utah Rock Collectors' Facebook page (due to liability issues). The Facebook group admin sets up field trips throughout the year to several great rockhounding spots like this one (they usually go to the Centennial Mine a couple times a year).
