In Lone Valley, fierce winds roar through the cliffs, stirred up by dark energy leaking from the Demon Realm.
Cless and his friends move deeper into the valley, sealing each hole that releases the energy to calm the storm little by little.
At the entrance, a huge rock blocks the path, but with a pickaxe, it can be broken to move forward. Inside, the violent winds sweep through narrow tunnels, making it hard to explore. The group continues until they find the Sylphs, the Wind Spirits behind the storm, and defeats them to stop the raging gusts.
Deeper in the cave, a strange miasma filled the air. Cless moved heavy rocks to plug the holes releasing the energy, slowly purifying the area. Monsters attacked as he worked, but he pushed through until the winds outside finally calmed.
At the deepest part of the valley, Sylph appeared before the group. Thankful for restoring balance, she offered to form a contract with Cless. Before leaving, she warned that if things continued as they were, the world’s mana would soon vanish, and the spirits themselves would fade away. To prevent that, she asked them to rekindle the fire in Yggdrasil, deep within the Forest of Spirits, and handed Cless the Element Orb. With this new bond, Klarth earned the title of Tamer, and their journey toward Yggdrasil began.

Tales of Phantasia (テイルズ オブ ファンタジア) is a real-time action RPG developed by Wolf Team and published by Namco for the Super Famicom. It is the first game in the long-running Tales series originally released only in Japan in December 1995. For its time, it was a very advanced game thanks to Hiroya Hatsushiba’s “Flexible Voice Driver,” which allowed impressive voice acting and a fully voiced opening song, Yume wa Owaranai by Yoshida Yukari. The character designs by Kōsuke Fujishima gave it a distinct anime look, and it introduced the Linear Motion Battle System used throughout the series.
The PlayStation version (1998) improves the game with better graphics, smoother gameplay, redrawn characters and backgrounds, and a 3D world map. It also adds voiced skits, cooking, and titles these features that later became key elements in future Tales games.
English Localization version 1.0 produced by Phantasian Productions.
