From the Avian and Loaded and Radio and Stuff Archives, here is a 2013 interview with Avian (right at the end of his 27 year radio broadcasting career before he moved on to other communications opportunities), when he was the head copywriter and creative director of a radio station cluster in New York State, a role in which he was awarded three New York State Broadcaster's Association awards for excellence in copywriting and commercial production.
The twist here is that the interviewer is a middle school student assigned to learn as much as she could about how he got the job, what drives his creativity, and what the day to day workflow is like starting with an account executive selling a commercial campaign to a client, through the creative process overseen by yours truly, and ending with an approved and completed commercial being broadcast on the radio.
