President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos honor the nation’s athletes who participated in the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games last December 9 to 20, 2025 in Thailand during a ceremony at Foro de Intramuros in the City of Manila on January 21, 2026.
Sending its largest contingent to the biennial regional sporting event with more than 1,500 athletes and officials, the Philippines earned 50 golds, 73 silvers and 154 bronzes for a total of 277 medals. This is the fourth consecutive SEA Games where the Philippines has surpassed the 50-gold mark.
Among the historic breakthroughs recorded by the Philippines are its first-ever SEA Games gold medal in women’s football during its debut in the SEA Games; the first women’s 4x100 meter freestyle relay gold in swimming since 1993; gold medals in men’s baseball and women’s softball; and Alex Eala’s gold medal finish in women’s tennis singles, capturing the Philippines’ first women’s singles gold in 26 years.
All medalists are eligible for incentives under Republic Act No. 10699, also known as the Athletes and Coaches Incentives Act. SEA Games gold medalists will receive Php300,000 each, silver medalists will get Php150,000 each, and bronze medalists will receive Php60,000 each.
