Fitting pegs always takes longer than I expect. Follow along as I fit 1 peg, with some editing to speed it up. But it’s worth it.
My job is to produce a tool for making music. Of course the “music” part of that is very important so I spend a lot of time thinking about how to build instruments with the absolute best possible sound. But, the “making” part of that is equally important. And for a musician to be able to make music they need to be able to tune their instrument. It’s precisely because tuning pegs are so simple—just a a tapered wood dowel in a matching hole—that they absolutely need to be perfect. After picking up the instrument and feeling the neck, the pegs are usually the second part of the instrument the musician will interact with. Anyone who has tried to a tune a violin with less than stellar pegs will attest to the frustration.
