Donkeys at Barnoldswick Beach - Saturday 23rd August 2014

The camera was there today to capture the Donkeys today at Barnoldswick Beach.

From the first to the last Saturday in August, Barnoldswick Town Square has once again become the venue for Britain's best inland beach; Barnoldswick's Golden Mile!

Although Barnoldswick couldn't be any further from the sea, in August the tides bring tons of sand right into the heart of the town and Barnoldswick's square is transformed into a lovely sandy cove with lots of seaside activities.

The Beach is organised by Barnoldswick Town Council. As well as the sand itself, there are Donkey Days with donkeys giving rides to the little ones, and there's a surf simulator for beach goers young and old.

Treasure Trails take families around Barnoldswick's town centre during Barnoldswick Beach with Barlick Gold Pirate Treasure to be dug for at the end of the trail.

A crafty corner gives kids the chance to be creative, with lots of hands on activity.

All the activities are FREE!

Visitors are invited to make a donation to charity - in 2014, the two charities being collected for are the North West and Yorkshire Air Ambulances.

Whatever your age, Barnoldswick Beach is an event to explore, full of free, family friendly fun!

Barnoldswick Beach is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday from 2nd to 30th August.

FREE parking is available on nearby town centre car parks.
