Looking for an easy inexpensive homemade plant milk version? You're going to love my oat milk! It is dairy free, lactose free, vegan and gluten free (in case you use certified gluten free oats). Oat milk is creamy and SO versatile: Use it in your coffee, for sauces, in baking, shakes and smoothies!

// OAT MILK //
1 cup oats (instant or old fashioned) *
3.5 cups water
1 little piece of banana or other sweetener of your choice(optional)

I haven't used steel cut oats so far. I you try them for this recipe, please let me know how it worked! In case you are gluten sensitive, make sure to use certified gluten free ingredients.

Fill the oats and the water into a container. Cover it, keep in fridge overnight. After the soaking, fill the mixture into a high speed blender and blend for approximately 3 minutes.

Line a strainer with a nut milk bag, cheese cloth or fine laundry bag. Fill in the mixture. Twist the cloth / bag and press all the liquid oat. The shelf life of the milk is up to 3 days in the fridge. Enjoy!

I actually use a fine laundry washing bag for straining the milk, and it works great. I got it from the dollar store years ago, so they don't carry it anymore, but this one on Amazon looks very similar:
