Hi, guys! Akiko your online warrior coach back again!
I am going to show you more technique or tip on punches. Today is Kamae, meaning in Japanese is "Ready" stance. Before throwing a punch you arm should be in Kamae position. What I often see from students (especially dudes... muscular guys with big arms and big chests) tend to flair out their elbows.
Not a very good idea :(
It is too wide open on the side
And only pecs (chest muscles) are engaged and it is too slow to throw a punch.
You need to have elbow in and punch fist need to be right by your rib cage.
And fist slightly rotate outward (you see in the video what I mean) so your elbow naturally tight close to your body. And multiple muscles are engaged chest, shoulder, arm, lats, back and even core. Multiple muscles means more power (explosive) and speed.
So try that and practice! Make sure not to shrug your shoulders, neck relaxed!
See you in the next video!
Thanks!!!
