Wolchulsan National Park is the smallest in South Korea but you wouldn't be able to tell by its expansive trail system, its various look-out points and unique vistas.
The mountain that shares the same name, Wolchulsan (월출산) is located in Jeollanam-do province. At its peak, Cheonhwangbong, it rises approximately to 808.7 meters, making it the highest point in Gangjin County.
Anytime of the year this mountain can be enjoyed especially if you are willing and able to make it to one of the most notable features which is the "Cloud Bridge" (구름다리) a small suspension bridge that spans two peaks.
I started my hike at the Cheonhwang Parking Lot then took it onto the Gureumdari Bridge other wise known as the "Cloud Bridge" then ended at Cheonhwangbong Peak.
My recommendation would be to start your hike from the Cheonhwang Parking Lot to the Gureumdari Bridge to Cheonhwangbong Peak onto Gujeongbong Peak through to the Eoksaebat (Pampas Grass Field) ending at Dogapsa Temple. This is the most popular mountain ridge trail on the mountain. It takes an average of 6 hours to cover the 9.4km trail.
The name Wolchulsan means "mountain where the moon rises."

If you dare, try to hike Wolchulsan in the winter to experience a snowy wonderland, but don't forget your crampons!
