Dow Casts Doubt on Air Botswana’s Profitability
Kgatleng West Member of Parliament, Unity Dow, has expressed skepticism that Air Botswana will achieve profitability by the end of 2025.
Speaking in Parliament, Dow said despite President Duma Gideon Boko’s earlier assurances, the national airline is unlikely to post profits this year. She argued that the carrier still faces operational challenges and will require more time and effort to fully recover and improve its services.
In response, President Boko reaffirmed his confidence in the airline’s turnaround strategy, saying Air Botswana remains on track to record a profit by December. He said the government’s focus on optimizing profitable routes and enhancing efficiency would yield positive results.
Boko also revealed plans to introduce an Air Botswana Express service aimed at reducing ticket prices, cutting travel costs, and boosting overall performance.
