At home, it can be made easily on a gas stove using simple ingredients.
The dough is prepared with whole wheat flour, a little salt, oil, and water, kneaded until soft and rested well. The rested dough is divided into equal portions and rolled into thick rotis. One side of the roti is lightly moistened with water and placed water-side down on a hot tawa so it sticks properly. When bubbles appear, the tawa is flipped directly over the flame, allowing the roti to cook evenly and develop charred spots.
Once puffed and cooked, the tandoori roti is removed and brushed with butter or ghee. It is best served hot with paneer dishes, dal makhani, butter chicken, or any rich curry. This homemade version gives you the authentic restaurant-style taste without a tandoor
