Time Behind Bars Run – Day 8: Broome to Fitzroy Crossing – The Journey Home Begins
Day 8 marks the start of the homeward run, rolling out of Broome and back onto the long stretch toward the NT. First stop for the day was Willare Roadhouse for fuel and a quick break — with Darwin still 1,709 km away, the reality of the distance ahead definitely kicked in.
Along the way we pulled in for a classic Kimberley sightseeing moment at The Big Boab Tree, a towering icon of the region and a perfect excuse to stretch the legs before pushing on.
From there, it was an easy run into Fitzroy Crossing, where we settled in for the night and prepared for another big day on the return journey.
