Miracle's Twelve Knights – Rance 9 Scene

Miracle a cute! This is probably one of the coolest scenes from Rance 9. Miracle Tou, Chuuni at heart, introduces her Twelve Knights, explaining how each one of them stands out. Rance also offers his graceful commentary.

I really want to be satisfied with this translation, but I have two big problems.

1. The way Miracle talks is an absolute pain to understand. You can tell she's the type to speak in an overly sophisticated way, and her words are full of expressions and metaphors. Not suitable for a lowly EOP like myself. I probably won't attempt to do too many scenes with her, even if she's totally adorable.

2. The text space for the 'Twelve Knights' sequence is ridiculously small! I couldn't figure out how to change my font size, so I was basically reduced to a maximum of two sentences. Try cramming everything she says into two lines – believe me, it's not easy! I'm sorry. I didn't have a choice this time, I had to be really liberal with the translation in order to fit the text into the space I was allocated. As a way of apologizing, here's the longer version, if any of you care.

Lars: "That man is the adventurer famous for defeating the Curse-A Monster. His fighting abilities are mediocre, but I value his great courage. However, his whereabouts are currently unknown following his defeat at the hands of a Dark Lord. In any case, I’ll locate him sooner or later."

Pitten Chao: "I guess there’s no need to introduce him, really. Parancho’s guardian angel, the kingdom located at the south of the Free Cities. As some would say: perfect. Graceful, flawless features, not to mention higher than average abilities in every regard. A true all-rounder."

Oda Nobunaga: "The next man is the one located behind the rightmost fellow at the very front. Head of JAPAN’s Oda Family, Oda Nobunaga. A man who draws people towards him with his easygoing personality. Kuku~ It’ll be interesting to see what that man does next."

Sanada Tourin: "Sanada Tourin. Originally the strategist behind Japan’s strongest army, the Takeda Family. His calm judgement, his rich knowledge, his keen insight – he will most like be the brains behind the Twelve Knights."

Patton Misnarge: "Patton Misnarge, would-be successor of Helman’s Empire, the fallen prince who was robbed of his seat. Blessed with an incredible physique, and a powerful user of martial arts. At times his fiery passion shall boost everyone’s morale; at others, he shall act as a reliable moderator for the group."

Gandhi: "Ragnarokarc Super Gandhi. King of Zeth. A wanderer at heart. An interesting man, with high magical and physical abilities, but his greatest feature might just be his bold and daring personality."

Houjou Souun: "Houjou Souun. The young genius who, at the age of 20, became the head of the Houjou Family. Well-versed in JAPANese knowledge, and an excellent wielder of the Yin Yang arts. Since that type of knowledge is not available to the rest of the world, he may come in handy in continental battles."

Rolex Gadras: "Rolex Gadras. Known as the Sword Demon. The strongest swordsman in Helman. The might of his dual-blade style, you’ve seen it for yourself. In large battles, he shall ransack the enemy as a frontline man."

Arios: "A forgotten hero. Less than a hero, rather. His life is naught but tragedy. Kuku~ An interesting fellow. Perhaps this man’s story matter more than his abilities. I hear that he has many interesting tales to recount. We may hear of them, soon enough."

Marishiten: "Marishiten. An assassin who leads the Marishiten Assassination Squad. A silent, cool-headed man who claims lives with his single-edged blade. Kuku~ He was hired to assassinate me and nearly succeeded. Scary~ Scary~ He may seem like a plain man, but in truth, it’s the opposite. Once he’s overlooked, and tensions rise, he shall be the one to turn the odds around with his one-shot kill."

Ithere: "Finally, there’s Ithere. A Dark Lord well-versed in the art of the blade and hypnotism. In addition, his beauty is also worthy of his title as a Dark Lord. As a Dark Lord, he’s near-invincible, and his hypnotism can be used to brainwash others. Kukuku, he’s certain to be an interesting member, in many ways."

So yeah, that's the full-ish~ version of what Miracle says. This game... I love it. The story is such a gem. If you have suggestions for other scenes, I'd love to hear them. Sorry again about the liberal translation, but I hope you enjoy regardless.

PS: "Kukuku~" is a creepy-ish witch laugh that Miracle does, sometimes.
