We looked into the government’s final push for the UPDF Amendment Bill. ICT Minister Chris Baryomunsi revealed that Cabinet has resolved to amend the UPDF Act to ensure future chairpersons of the General Court Martial are trained lawyers. The move follows a Cabinet meeting to align the law with the January 31st Supreme Court ruling on the trial of civilians in military courts. The minister says the next step will be re-tabling the bill for Parliament's consideration.
