2. What is Linux Crontab?
Linux Crontab is a powerful utility that is used for scheduling and automating tasks in Unix-like operating systems.
The users can run the scripts or commands at specified times and interval. It brings ideal for repetitive tasks such as system maintenance, backups, and updates.
Each user can have their own crontab file, where they can define the scheduling commands that to be executed.
3. How to crontab work?
`Crontab` works by allowing the users to schedule tasks or commands that helps to run automatically at specified times and intervals.
`Crontab Configuration:` Each user on a Linux system is able to maintain their own crontab file that facilitates with listing the commands or scripts that to be executed as their schedule.
`Time Specification:` It uses a specific syntax for defining when the tasks should run. Its syntax includes the fields for minute, hour, day of the month, month, and day of the week.
`Scheduled Execution:` The cron daemon (cron) will continuously checks crontab files in determining if any scheduled tasks match the current time. When a match is found, it executes the specified command or script.
`System-wide and User-specific:` System administrators can configure system-wide cron jobs in `/etc/crontab` and `/etc/cron.d/`, while individual users manage their tasks using the `crontab -e` command to edit their personal crontab files.
