These are the beautiful Otis Compass elevators at Central Park Tower (217 West 57th Street) in New York City, accessible only to the richest of the rich. These have a travel distance of nearly 1,500 feet which is higher than any building in North America, surpassing the One World Trade Center service elevators by more than 200 feet!
I was quite literally the highest person in NYC for a solid 30 seconds on the 136th floor. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a full ride down from 130 nor was I able to access the machine room. I also only got one ride up and back down because these are keycarded to oblivion.
