Wig Cages: Wigs That Defy Gravity

London Coliseum is home of English National Opera and the wig team were challenged with creating 22 gravity defying wigs for the Ladies Chorus in the current production of Aida.

Wig making cages were constructed to support the hair for these wigs using millinery wire.

Miles of blue hair wefts were made to attach to the cages and blue hair braids and plaits were constructed to cover the insides to produce these 3D masterpieces.

Heavy Swiss lace was used to produce the full lace wig foundation to support the wig cages.

The results of 3 solid months of hard work is summarised within this video with a backstage peek into the talent that is ENO's wig team and all under the supervision of WAM’s very own Corinne Young.
