For sale in our Chicago showroom is this impressive 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7. With a monstrous 429 CID V8 thumping away under the hood paired with a C6 3-speed automatic transmission this Cougar was built to move. However, the 3-speed leaves a bit to be desired, so some work needed to be done. An overdrive/underdrive unit was installed at the back of the trans effectively splitting all the gears making it operate similarly to a 6-speed transmission with overdrive. Paired with the mode done to the engine, this is an incredibly fun power-cruiser.
Believed to be a numbers-matching vehicle and proven to be a true 429 car by the included Marti report, this is definitely a rare car! The metallic blue paint pop in the sunlight and contrasts beautifully against the white vinyl interior and landau top.
