Educational objectives:
•Highlight the clinical relevance of S. aureus bacteremia
•Explain the international S. aureus network adaptive platform trial and compare/contrast to prior trials for this disease
•Discuss the first trial results from this remarkable CIHR-funded platform RCT
Biosketch of Dr. Todd Campbell Lee, Associate Professor of Medicine, ID and GIM McGill University:
Dr. Lee completed medical and subspecialty training at the University of Toronto followed by his Master's of Public Health at Harvard. He was elected to fellowship of the Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2019. Dr. Lee has multiple trials currently ongoing and funded by the CIHR and is one of the leaders of the internation S. Aureus Network Adaptive Platform Trial.
Biosketch of Dr. Matthew P. Cheng, Assistant Professor of Medicine- McGill University,
Transplant Infectious Diseases-Medical Mycology RVH MUHC:
Dr. Cheng obtained his medical degree from McGill University, and then subsequently completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of British Columbia. He then returned to McGill to complete a combined fellowship in infectious diseases and medical microbiology. Afterwards, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School-affiliated Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute under the mentorship of Francisco Marty and Jerry Ritz before establishing his clinical research program at the McGill University Health Centre. His research program is funded by research operating grants from the US National Institutes of Health, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council.
