Years after being attacked by aliens in "Absolution" , Jake Lonergan (played by Daniel Craig) has grown into a reluctant leader trying to help rebuild frontier society, but he is haunted by visions that suggest the real war has not even begun yet. Woodrow Dolarhyde (played by Harrison Ford), the rancher/ miner Jake teamed up with in Absolution, becomes Jake's new partner when the two of them begin investigating disturbing reports of missing settlers and strange lights in hidden canyons. The mysterious gunslinger, Evelyn Sharpe (played by Charlize Theron), has been added to the team as well; she has altered physiology and glowing scars, which indicates that she is half-human and half-something else; she carries information from Ella's people about the invasion force preparing to destroy all of humanity.

The stakes explode when Jake, Woodrow and Evelyn discover an alien fortress conducting horrific experiments on the frontier folk turning them into soldier- hybrids designed to subdue Earth before systematic extermination begins. The battle scenes will show a mix of western gun fights and advanced alien technology as cowboys, outlaws and Apache warriors fight together for a last stand against the alien fortress using salvaged alien technology and Jake's enhanced gauntlet. Tragic heroism is shown through Evelyn as she is stuck between worlds and knows the terrible price of stopping this invasion; her ultimate sacrifice is merging with the alien core to over load its system giving humanity time.
