On 23rd November 1991, the 'Valiant Thunderer', organised by Pathfinder Tours (originating from Manchester Piccadilly) was hauled by 50008 'Thunderer' and 50015 'Valiant' from Bristol Temple Meads to Newquay via Paignton.
This video features:
Class 25, D7535 departing Paignton Queens Park with a train for Kingswear (for railtour ticket-holders).
50015 and 50008 at Goodrington sidings.
D7535 returning from Kingswear.
7827 'Lydham Manor' is seen heading for Kingswear and returning to Paignton.
50008 and 50015 entering Paignton station before departing for Newton Abbot.
At Plymouth, 50008 and 50015 are seen in the company of 37142, before joining the rear of the railtour stock.
A failed HST set is seen with 47280 'Pedigree (Chum)'.
The Valiant Thunderer departs for Newquay, headed by 50033 'Glorious'.
Failed HST power car, 43156 is replaced by 43177. 43159, 43156 and 47280 then depart for Laira.
A class 101 arrives from Gunnislake.
37142 then readies herself for the next HST failure.
47821 'Royal Worcester' runs round parcels stock.
37417 'Highland Region' and an unidentified 37 head to Cornwall with a china clay train.
As dusk falls, a HST, headed by 43127 departs (for Paddington?).
Finally, 50008, 50015 and 50033 arrive before departing for Bristol (kindly illuminated for me by a fellow photographer).
