Class 50 railtour - 50007 & D400 - The Carlisle Fifty Farewell - 11 April 1992

On 11th April 1992, Rail magazine, in conjunction with Network SouthEast ran a railtour from Waterloo to Carlisle, hauled by 50007 'Sir Edward Elgar' and D400.

This video features the 50s arriving at Carlisle, running light-engine for refuelling, the cheque presentation (part) departure from Carlisle, departure from Crewe/being passed on the mainline (seen from train to Birmingham New Street hauled by 86253) and finally their departure from Birmingham New Street.

A class 310 enters the station before a HST departs in the opposite direction.
321416 arrives, followed by 87013 'John O'Gaunt'.
A four car 1st gen DMU departs.

Carlisle:
86253 'The Manchester Guardian' departs with a northbound service.
A view of several locos including 37106, 86638, 86618, 86256 'Pebble Mill' and 47475.
87033 'Thane of Fife' arrives from the south.
86638 and 86618 head northbound light engine as a 156 arrives.
86205 'City of Lancaster' arrives from the north.
87016 and 87026 'Sir Richard Arkwright' depart northbound.
86634 'University of London, 90134 and 86610 are seen stabled in the centre road.
87014 'Knight of the Thistle' propels a southbound service into platform 4.
37070 and 37261 'Caithness'? haul a freight through the station.
87033 arrives at platform 4 with a southbound service.
47809 'Finsbury Park' arrives with the 'Settle-Carlisle Green Express' railtour from Barnsley.
86256 'Pebble Mill' runs light engine through the station.
After the 50 railtour arrives, 37717 hauls a freight train into the station.
90002 departs south, followed shortly after by 37717.
86243 'City of Edinburgh' and an unidentified 86 enter platform 1 with a northbound service.
47291 'The Port of Felixstowe' enters the station.
86207 'City of Lichfield' arrives from the south.
86224 'Caledonian' enters platform 1.
86214 'Sans Pareil' leaves platform 4 with a southbound service.
86253 'The Manchester Guardian' returns from the north with a service for Birmingham New Street.

From the train:-
A view of Crewe Heritage Centre, including the APT-P set, a 47 and 50 (50017?).
After passing D400 and 50007, an unidentified railtour is overtaken, hauled by 47839. Shortly after, it overtakes 86253 at Stafford.

At Birmingham New Street:-
47839 arrives with the unidentified railtour.
D400 and 50007 arrive and then depart for Waterloo.
