Fiorentina ancora tra le grandi , arrivano Aldo Firicano, Pusceddu e Lulù Oliveira dal Cagliari, e in inverno la stella dell' Everton Andrej Kanchelskis,
ex Manchester United.
Reduce dalla vittoria in Coppa Italia, la squadra di Ranieri vince anche la Supercoppa italiana contro il Milan, con una doppietta di Batistuta.
Una coppa tira l'altra, suggeriva l'adesivo che crearono i tifosi viola,
ma la Fiorentina parte male in campionato e finisce al nono posto.
Bellissima invece la volata in Coppa delle Coppe che si ferma solo in semifinale contro il Barcellona di Ronaldo, quello vero.
Storica la partita di andata finita 1-1 con un siluro del solito Batistuta, che ammutoli gli 80.000 del Camp Nou, compreso l'allora allenatore in seconda , José Mourinho!
