Myself and another railfan would head out to Kelson Ave in Stoney Creek, ON to catch morning freights at a brand new spot.
CN 422 would arrive, followed shortly by 421. The clear signal seen on the North track during 422's passing is for 421. The Amtrak Maple Leaf would show up as well, and I provided a track shot, along with a pan.
After 97 passed, we attempted to see some action on the Canadian Pacific Hamilton Sub, about a 30 minute drive away. Nothing seemed to come so we drove out to the Grimsby VIA Station to see CN 331. Both units would be SD70i's (second unit being the newest of CN's 70i's). This would be my first time seeing an SD70i in person. It is usually an SD75i instead.
We would begin our trek home, but not before stopping for lunch. As we were doing that, I had a gut instinct to look at the ATCS monitoring program on my phone, and sure enough a freight was lined up to go through to St. Catharines. As it turns out, this would be CN 567, returning to Ft. Erie after heading to Toronto early in the morning. 3 GP38's would be the power of this freight. We would catch it at Jordan Rd (next crossing west of the Jordan crossover at 15th St.), and than call it a day.
