As I’m sure most of us railfan are aware of, tomorrow November 15 2018 marks the day CN takes back operations on the GEXR Guelph Sub for good after leasing the line to a short line rail company (Goderich and Exeter Railway) nearly 20 years back. The lease began in 1998 and expires at the end of 2018. Earlier in this year CN made the Buisness decision to resume operations on the Guelph Sub and therefore once they resume control, all the colored units of GEXR will become ‘a thing of the past’ due to the fact the CN now runs their trains. They set their day to begin operations on November 15 2018.
GEXR will still remain on the Goderich and Exeter Subs as CN choose not to resume control there ‘yet’ so looking on the bright side, at least GEXR will still exist in some parts of Southern Ontario but certainly not even close to as big they once were.
Anyway the only GEXR Train I typically would see on a day to day basis was the 432/431 run as they ran through my hometown (Brampton) every morning as they made their way to Mac yard to interchange freight with CN before returning westbound to Kitchener and Stratford later in the afternoon.
Every GEXR Train except 581 and 516 will sadly be taken over by CN power which includes the train I see most (432/431).
Anyway being that the day of this posting (November 14 2018) marks the last day of GEXR service of the Guelph Sub, I thought I should put this video complication together on the best GEXR trains I seen over the years!
Hope you enjoy!
ALSO, as some of you are also aware of I had this channel long term therefore I have created a playlist showing all the GEXR action I have also seen before 2015 going back to 2010.
If you were interested, your more than welcome to check that out as well!
