@GailRubin is president of the Historic Fairview Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Established in 1881, the 17.5 acre cemetery is the final resting place for 12,000 people, including many notable New Mexicans and nationally renowned figures.
A group of volunteers cleaned up tumbleweeds and trash before the Fourth of July holiday, and replaced a tattered American flag that flew over one of the two military sections of the cemetery. A Buffalo soldier is among the military dead interred at Historic Fairview Cemetery.
