Table of mangosteens (Part 1)

This morning I decided to try something completely wild and crazy. I had some ideas percolating from an earlier concept sketch which you will see in the video and very eager to expand those new ideas.

I decided to switch up how I will begin this painting and find a fresh way to kick start the process. A new entry point, a approach and a new adventure. I want to start with something energetic and splashy!!

So after a few gestural lines, I was ready to pour my @danielsmithartistsmaterials watercolour paints. What fun to make a happy mess!! Very liberating and fun to celebrate the magic of watercolour. The pouring process allowed lots of big broad passages of interconnected colour washes to dance across my page. You just have to go with flow and work with the happy mess. Can you see the mangosteens tumbling across the table?
