Ayurveda is an ancient healthy system that focuses on three Doshas, or energies...Kapha, Pitta and Vata. Summer to early fall is Pitta season which is governed by the elements fire and water...think heat and humidity. One of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda is that our habits, routines and dietary choices should ebb and flow with the seasons to create balance in our mind, body and spirit. To create balance in Pitta season we'll go through ways of staying cool physically and mentally.
Pranayama - Breathing during Pitta season would expel excess heat and calm the mind. Sitali and Sitkari are two cooling breathing techniques for Pitta season.
Meditation - Affirmation: "I am present in each moment, savoring the joys of summer."
