On January 11, 2024, at around 2:16 PM, the Florida Highway Patrol's Criminal Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a white Mercedes Benz SUV in Osceola County for several traffic violations, including an improper display of a temporary tag, illegal window tint, and improper lane changes. Despite being clearly marked as law enforcement, the suspect fled recklessly.
The pursuit, involving multiple crashes and dangerous maneuvers at speeds over 100 mph, ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed. The suspect, identified as Jonathan Nicola, was arrested and found in possession of a digital scale, plastic bags, and approximately 10,000 to 20,000 fentanyl pills. Additionally, a 9mm gun was found in the vehicle. The vehicle itself was confirmed stolen.
