Top Tennis Training vs Malta Davis Cup Team - Doubles Tennis Match. Doubles in tennis is a very different game to a singles tennis match and we've had so many requests to start focusing more on doubles tactics and strategy that we decided to film our very own tennis doubles exhibition match in Malta. In this video, Top Tennis Training coaches Simon Konov and Alex Slabinsky, representing team Top Tennis Training play an exhibition match against Matthew Asciak and Omar Sudszuk who play Davis Cup for the small Meditteranean Island of Malta and are the head coaches of the Asciak Tennis Academy at the Marsa Sports Club in Malta.
Simon and Alex hold an annual VIP clinic in Malta for a small number of online students who travel from around the globe to attend and a junior clinic for the performance junior players from the Asciak Tennis Academy and this match is played on the first day of the junior camp with some of the players acting as the ball boys and ball girls for the match.
In 2018, Matthew and Omar defeated Simon and Alex 6-2, 6-1 in windy conditions on the clay courts of the Marsa Sports Club. In 2019, the match was played on hard court but once again the weather proved to be a major factor for both teams as strong winds and a low setting sun made the conditions very hard to deal with for both teams.
The guys from the Asciak Tennis Academy defeated team TTT 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in a much closer battle this year, TTT saved five match points to come back from 6-1 down in the tiebreak but eventually lost the match.
