I Swore I’d NEVER Stay on a Campsite… But This Changed Everything!

After 18 months of vanlife and only two paid park-ups in that time, I finally caved and tried a campsite solo… and honestly? I think I’m converted.

This spot in the Yorkshire Dales turned out to be a total win: Savannah could roam free without worry, there was actual WiFi (a miracle when you’re in a signal black hole), and the views were the kind that make you forget what year it is.
I set up, caught some sunshine, rolled out the yoga mat, and even fired up a BBQ — because on a campsite you can! Double cheeseburger with fresh bread and onions? Yes please.
The evening was pure peace and nature sounds, followed by a solid night’s sleep (another campsite perk I wasn’t expecting).
The next morning, even with the rain, I emptied bins, dumped waste, topped up water — all the vanlife essentials handled before rolling on to Hawes for supplies, but only after tackling what felt like a rally driving track
We end with a new park-up beside a dried riverbed, surrounded only by sheep and birds. Bliss.
