Location: Riding downhill from Schuders to the village Schiers
Direction: Schuders - Schiers
Degree of difficulty: medium, narrow road, almost no traffic, not to less knotted corners (hairpin bends).
View: Schuders is a Walser village laid out as a hillside settlement at an altitude of 1272 m in the canton of Bündner Prättigau at the foot of the Rätikon range. From Schiers, Schuders can be reached via a winding road that crosses the Salginatobel Bridge designed by Robert Maillart in 1930. With a width of 1200 m and a height of 600 m, one of the largest slide areas in the Alps is located near Schuders. After a whole part of the village had to be abandoned as early as 1887/88 due to slate slides, there were renewed slides from 1910, which led to faster movements in 1935 and included new, previously unaffected areas. After the Second World War, the road, which was only built in 1928-1934, had to be relocated several times. Happily there is no big risk of slipping when you visit the 'Berggasthof Alte Post' from the end of May. The mountain inn can be reached by motorbike, automobile and postbus via the world-famous Salginatobel Bridge. The small church, which was built in 1508 under the patronage of Saint Anne, was a former miners' chapel belonging to the parish of Schiers. Schuders, which was once a mining village, now lives mainly from agriculture and summer tourism. Source Wikipedia
