Unitization is when you bring together many wells on the same oil and gas reservoir together, the oil and gas companies operating these wells make a plan to use their different wells to get the maximum efficient recovery from the reservoir. This video explains why, in the United States, wells are usually only unitized after they have been operating for a while, why state conservation agencies sometimes encourage unitization plans, and why it is so hard for different landowners and oil and gas companies to agree together on a unitization plan.
