Within Leeds we have a strong ambition to put people’s voices at the centre of health and care decision making. Without this we simply will not deliver the right services at the right time for the people of Leeds and in particular those with the greatest health inequalities. Following a CQC visit to Leeds in Autumn 2018, which looked at older people’s experiences of moving across health and care settings in Leeds, we wanted to really understand what people’s experiences were and be assured that they were good. We are doing this in a number of ways, led by a citywide multi-partner group called, the ‘How does it feel for me?’ working group.
One of the projects we are trialling is listening to the experiences of a number of people who live in Leeds and receive multiple health and care services. These people are very kindly sharing their experiences with us on a monthly basis via video and written testimony. This insight along with intelligence from other work within the “How does it feel for me?” programme, is designed to influence the key senior decision-making health and care boards in Leeds. It will also provide useful insight for individual organisations reflect and action. These are the first two videos in a series which will be filmed from September 2019.
If you are watching and using these videos we ask that you become part of this work and consider what did you feel and what could you do in response? Please let us know by contacting Healthwatch Leeds, info@healthwatchleeds.co.uk, 0113 898 0035
