Members of the Chinese Communist Party are set to converge in Beijing in the latter half of 2022 for their 20th national party congress. Such gatherings take place about once every five years, but the upcoming congress is expected to be the most significant political event for China in decades. It will be the first to take place since major geopolitical events, including the US-China fall out, the Covid-19 pandemic, war in Ukraine and the latest Taiwan crisis.
