With a long-awaited addition to my setup, the Behringer K-2 MKII finally arrived, bringing its distinct character into the mix. I’ve always appreciated monosynths for their simplicity and focus, and the K-2’s expressive 12db filter with its sharp, almost vocal resonance provides a distinctive character, perfect for the swelling and fading dynamics in this track.
Unfortunately, my device seems to have a defect and loses that biting resonance after some time. It will probably need to be replaced.
"Ascending Horizon" is a simple jam with polyrhythms and evolving textures. The K-2 takes care of the foundation, the Poly D delivers the melody, and the Spice adds its usual dose of controlled chaos.
As always, this was recorded live in one take on my Zoom recorder, with minimal post-processing of the resulting stereo track (EQ, compression, and normalizing, for the YouTube algorithms). as such, it’s not DAWless, as it was recently explained to me :-)
