THE government last week introduced a series of tax reductions and cuts to administrative costs, which business saw as a necessary first step to reduce the crippling regulatory burden that has inflated the cost of doing business in Zimbabwe, making it uncompetitive with neighbouring countries like South Africa. While this was a welcome move, Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Chris Mugaga warns that these reforms alone were not enough to create a truly conducive economic environment.
