Today's scripture from the Gospel of Luke 18:11-18 tells the story of the inclusive vision Jesus holds for faith in our world. It would be the one from outside the faith who would be called the one with deepest faith. There would be one who would realize with gratitude the blessings he'd been given; he would return to thank Jesus. And that thanksgiving would strengthen his belief and his faith. That thanksgiving would enkindle hope. How does that work in our own lives, when we realize we have gratitude and return to God with our praise and thanksgiving? How do we know our faith strengthened? How do we sense deep hope?
