Part 6 of the much needed tool cabinet build. The final episode.
The video starts out with the door sides which were mitered and dovetailed. The piece of mahogany I used for the sides had some wild grain. I actually picked it because of that. The front maple with inlays is finally cut in half and fitted into the door sides. Some of the tool holders were slightly mortised and some were just glued into place. I left some room on each door for future tools that I just forgot to add. I've actually been using this cabinet for months and nothing has come up yet. You'll notice in this episode that you can see the large board behind my workbench where I keep all my measuring tools. It's super nice to have it right there to grab what is needed. It's also hinged at the top to access the wood storage behind it. This is the reason why there is no measuring devices in the cabinet.
I wanted black hinges and the dye worked awesome. You'll see me cheat a little with the screws with a sharpie. I just couldn't get them black in the grooves without it. I hope you enjoyed the series. This may be my favorite build and I'm super happy how it came out.
Feel free to subscribe as this isn't the end for me. I have a lot of other projects "in the can" and ready to process. I think next I'll start a series on a blanket chest made out of Ambrosia maple with some marquetry. I really appreciate that you stayed to the end of this series and again I really hope you enjoyed it.
